New Springbok assistant coach Tony Brown has linked up with Super Rugby Pacific outfit the Blues on a ‘short-term’ basis.

The Blues face an unexpected coaching shuffle as attack coach Jason O’Halloran takes indefinite medical leave due to a health issue.

Stepping into the breach in the interim is Brown, a former Highlanders head coach and ex-Japan assistant coach, and recently added to Rassie Erasmus’ Bok coaching staff for 2024.

With O’Halloran’s return uncertain due to diabetes-related concerns, the Blues have enlisted Brown as a ‘coaching consultant’ under first-year chief Vern Cotter.

Recognised globally for his attacking prowess, former All Blacks fly-half Brown’s expertise is expected to enhance the All Blacks-laden Blues backline.

Blues CEO Andrew Hore expresses gratitude for securing Brown’s services, stating: “We’re grateful to have someone of Tony’s experience to work as a consultant for our coaching group in the short-term as we prepare for the upcoming Super Rugby season.”
