Boksburg house ablaze: Police hunt for suspects after man (57) is murdered

It is suspected a robbery turned into a murder and arson case, after a pensioner was attacked in his Boksburg home yesterday.

Police are on the hunt for the suspects who committed murder, arson, house robbery and theft of motor vehicle in Impala Park in Boksburg yesterday.

According to police spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, Boksburg North police attended a scene of arson at a home in Elizabeth Road at around 06:00.

“On arrival they found the house with the bedroom having been burnt and the kitchen full of water. In the bedroom they saw the body of a white male on the floor burnt beyond recognition,” said Sekgobela.

“Neighbours told police the 57-year-old victim had lived alone. It is suspected the victim was robbed and killed and his car was taken by the suspect/s. The vehicle was a Honda Civic,” she added.

The police are appealing to members of the community who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.

The Boksburg Advertiser has not been able to talk to the family yet, who requested the victim’s name be withheld until they do speak to the paper.
