Boksburg man accused of killing neighbour remains in custody
A quarrel, allegedly over loud music, resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man and the arrest of an elderly one.
A 73-year-old man from Impala Park, Boksburg, returned to the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The man was arrested for shooting and killing his neighbour, according to police, after an argument over loud music on Friday.
Wearing a Springbok jacket, Evan Swanson stepped into the dock.
The court saw Swanson’s injuries, including wounds in the vicinity of his eye and a bruised and swollen hand, which he claims to have been caused by the 37-year-old neighbour who was fatally shot.
According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, police were told a fight broke out when Swanson went to his neighbour to ask him to turn the music down.
“During the fight, the suspect allegedly went into his house, came out with a firearm and shot and killed his neighbour. The police arrested him on the scene, seized his firearm and booked it in at the police station,” adds Mngomezulu.
Swanson will remain in custody until September 4, when the matter resumes for a formal bail application.
