Boksburg mega store robbed

A group of five armed men allegedly robbed the Home Corp store in Boksburg, on the East Rand, on Thursday.

The men reportedly entered the store in the afternoon pretending to be customers, Boksburg Advertiser reported.

Stock manager Dinash Ambrose said the suspects locked all the staff members in the boardroom.

“One of them told me to sit down. He then kicked me in the face,” said Ambrose.

Two of the gunmen reportedly held the staff at gunpoint while the rest entered the storeroom and took dozens of cellphones.

No shots were fired during the alleged robbery.

The suspects then reportedly drove off in a white Toyota Yaris with stolen goods, whose value is not yet known.

Police spokesperson Captain Juanita Coetzer confirmed the robbery and said police investigations were under way.

Last month, 10 armed men allegedly robbed a Hi-Fi Corporation store in Boksburg.

It was reported the suspects casually entered the store wearing red shirts similar to those of the staff.

The suspects then reportedly fled the scene with cellphones, iPads, tablets, GPS devices and laptops.
