Boy critical after falling from 2nd floor of Durban flat
A child was severely injured after falling from an apartment building on Helen Joseph Road in Davenport.
A nine-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after falling from the second floor of a flat in Davenport, Durban, this morning (July 14).
Berea Mail reports that ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says emergency services received multiple calls shortly before 11:30 reporting that a child had fallen from an apartment building in Helen Joseph Road.
“When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found chaos as they found a young boy approximately nine years of age who had fallen, being attended to by Metro Police Search and Rescue,” he adds.
The child sustained multiple critical injuries in the fall.
“Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the child on scene before rushing him through to a nearby specialist hospital for the further care that he required,” Jamieson says.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and police are expected to investigate the matter further.
The police had yet to comment at the time of publication.
