Broos names Zwane in Bafana squad to face Sierra Leone, Botswana

Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane is part of the 23-man squad that was announced earlier today.

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has shown faith in the veteran midfielder to give him a place in the squad to face Sierra Leone and Botswana in international friendlies later this month.

Broos’ squad will face off against Sierra Leone on September 24 and Botswana on September 27. Both games are set to begin at 15:00 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

After a 2-1 defeat to Morocco in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group K match in June, and a 5-0 defeat by world champions France in a friendly international at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille in March, the Belgium-born coach hopes the South African senior national team can return to winning ways.

“We start again and it is an opportunity to try and win games,” Broos told Safa.
