Bulls sign Nkosi, may keep Tambwe

Tambwe contributed to the Blue Bulls well, having scored six tries for the team this season.

The Vodacom Bulls announced the signing of Sbu Nkosi from the Sharks on Thursday and may still be able to partner the Springbok wing with Madosh Tambwe.

In the process of moving to French Top 14 club Bordeaux, Tambwe has reportedly hit a stumbling block that could result in the Bulls finisher remaining at Loftus Versfeld.

Tambwe signed for Bordeaux back in March, but his move to France has hit a snag due to visa problems.

According to Netwerk24, the DRC-born player’s application for a work visa has been rejected by the French government, but Bordeaux are working hard behind the scenes to resolve the issue.

After the Bulls beat Griquas in the Currie Cup, director of rugby Jake White suggested, tongue in cheek, that Tambwe may yet stay in Pretoria.

“We may still keep him here. You need a visa to work in France. You never know,” White said with a smile.

The Bulls this week announced the signing of Springbok wing Sbu Nkosi, who is considered a replacement for Tambwe.

Having scored six tries for the Bulls this season and currently sitting in second place for clean breaks and metres made in the URC, Tambwe would be leaving a big gap in the backline if his move does go through.

Tambwe’s excellent form in the URC has had him ringfenced as a potential Springbok candidate, but he has not been involved in any of the alignment camps to date.
