Cash-in-transit van bombed in Rabie Ridge, robbers flee with cash and firearms
Firearms, including a rifle and a pistol, were taken before cash-in-transit heist bombers escaped in three vehicles.
Police are investigating a cash-in-transit robbery after a cash van was bombed and money stolen in Rabie Ridge yesterday.
Kempton Express reports that, according to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhululwi, the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“It was reported that the cash van was travelling along Mapheto Drive when a light blue Chevrolet Cruiser rammed into it and the occupants opened fire, forcing the van to stop,” says Nevhululwi.
“The driver and crew were forced out of the van at gunpoint before the suspects bombed the vehicle.
“The suspects then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and the victims’ firearms, a rifle and a pistol, using a white Ford Ranger, white Toyota Prado, and a gold Mercedes-Benz.”
Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit anonymous tip-offs via the MySAPS app.
