Child porn and sex crimes: Former Vereeniging nightclub owner in court
From bouncer to nightclub owner, a Vaal Triangle man now faces court over sexual offences and child pornography charges.
A former nightclub owner (62) from the Vaal Triangle briefly appeared in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court this week in connection with allegations of sexual offences and possession of child pornography.
Sedibeng Ster reports that, according to the accused’s legal representative, Grant van Bochove, the case was postponed to allow additional information for the bail application to be obtained. The court requested this information from the state before the bail hearing could proceed. Once the documentation is received, the bail application will go ahead.
The accused remains in custody and is expected to appear in the same court next week.
The charges, as set out in the official charge sheet, include alleged rape, sexual assault, and the use of a so-called date-rape drug, as well as other serious offences involving minors.
The case is being investigated by the Provincial Serial and Electronic Crime Unit.
Years ago, the accused worked as a bouncer at a nightclub in Vanderbijlpark before owning his own nightclub in Vereeniging.
The identities of the minors cannot be disclosed.
