Children ‘sexually violated’ for money

A man has been taken into custody after being accused of sexually violating children in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.

According to police spokesperson Captain Shooz Magudulela, the 48-year-old man was arrested after his crimes were reported by a 10-year-old victim, Newcastle Advertiser reported.

“The suspect allegedly lured the young boy into touching his private parts in exchange for cash,” confirmed Captain Magudulela. “The child reported the matter to the school principal, and a trap was arranged with the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).”

This resulted in the arrest of the suspect, who is expected to appear before the Newcastle Magistrates’ Court this week. Captain Magudulela further confirmed that several other children had allegedly been sexually violated by the suspect.

“We want to request any children who have been victimised to contact FCS for further action,” he said.

This after a teacher was granted bail after being arrested for allegedly molesting preschool children at a Mpumalanga school last year.

Principal Neels Ferreira reportedly said he became aware of the matter when a parent of one of the children laid a complaint against the female teacher with police.

The department of education later suspended the teacher, pending an investigation.
