Community acts fast to save stabbing victim

The victim, who was in a critical condition was stabilised before he was rushed to hospital.

On Friday night, February 11 just before the Honeydew patrollers ended their shift, they were called to assist with a stabbing incident.

It is reported that the patrollers were flagged down by a motorist on Beyers Naudé Drive while patrolling from Zandspruit.

Upon stopping they realised there was a victim lying on the side of the road with a stab wound.

Medical assistance, police and patroller back up was called immediately while ComMed NPO 251-216 which is another voluntary organisation, responded immediately.

The victim, who was in a critical condition was stabilised before he was rushed to hospital.

“We have no idea what transpired prior for him to get stabbed, however a case has been opened by the Honeydew police and will be investigated further. These are the stories many residents don’t always get to hear or see. Many of these voluntary services assist to make a better community for all, last night a life was saved by a team who cares for their fellow community members,” said Honeydew CPF PRO Michael Steyn.
