A 42-year-old Eldorado Park, Soweto, police officer is expected to appear in court on Monday for allegedly murdering his 22-year-old girlfriend, Chesnay Patricia Keppler.

According to an article published by Soweto Urban, the murder occurred in the early hours of Thursday, following a domestic dispute at the victim’s residence in Eldorado Park.

According to reports, the officer fired several shots through the window, killing his girlfriend. He then fled the scene.

As he was about to be arrested later that day, he allegedly shot himself.

The officer is in hospital, under police guard.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has reconstructed the crime scene and the officer is facing a murder charge.
