Counterfeit goods worth R6.3m seized at mall in KZN

The National Counterfeit Unit and several police units worked together to execute the raid.

Counterfeit goods worth millions were confiscated during a raid at a mall in Pietermaritzburg last Thursday.

The National Counterfeit Unit, working together with its KZN counterparts, including the Pietermaritzburg Public Order Policing and K9 units executed a search and seizure warrant in terms of the Customs and Excise Act.

Among the goods confiscated were clothing items and electronic devices.

The focus of the investigation will now shift to establishing the origin of the illicit goods.
