Courier driver shot dead in Durban

A courier driver was shot dead while delivering goods on Ronald Road in Montclair. The motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.

Police in Montclair, Durban, have launched a manhunt for two suspects who shot and killed a courier driver on Ronald Road yesterday afternoon.

The 33-year-old victim was delivering goods to a business on Ronald Road when two unknown men in a silver-grey Nissan Almera exited their vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The victim, whose name has not been released as police are still notifying his relatives, sustained a gunshot wound to his stomach and died at the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that nothing was taken during the incident, and the victim was found inside his vehicle.

eThekwini District police spokesperson Captain Carmen Rhymes says a case of murder has been opened at Montclair Police Station for further investigation.

“The motive for the attack is not known at this stage, and no arrests have been made,” adds Rhymes.
