Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 668 529

Some 1 480 new infections were recorded on Friday and 29 more people have died.

South Africa now has 668 529 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Friday.

This is an increase of 1 480 new infections.

There were 29 more deaths recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 16 312.

According to data released by the Department of Health, 599 149 recoveries have been recorded to date.

In total, 4 117 079 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.

The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Friday:

– Western Cape: 110 224 cases

– Gauteng: 218 650 cases

– KwaZulu-Natal: 118 489 cases

– Eastern Cape: 88 680 cases

– Limpopo: 15 139 cases

– Mpumalanga: 26 914 cases

– North West: 28 809 cases

– Northern Cape: 15 946 cases

– Free State: 45 678 cases
