CPF member arrested for drunk driving in Port Shepstone
A large-scale roadblock netted numerous people for drinking and driving, including a member of the CPF.
A member of the CPF in Port Shepstone was arrested for drunk driving last night.
South Coast Herald reports that the MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, said a multi-disciplinary roadblock in Port Shepstone was successful.
“Despite boasting about his high profile and his proximity to an unnamed SAPS captain, a visibly drunk member of the CPF in Port Shepstone was arrested for drunk driving,” he said.
The roadblock was in place until early this morning, enforced by the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), which worked with traffic officers from the Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality and the SAPS.
Duma said he is aware of scores of motorists being processed at Port Shepstone Police Station.
“I have mandated the RTI team to be firm and arrest more motorists for drinking and driving in October – Transport Month. We will use these operations as a build-up to the festive season.”
The CPF member is due to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
