CSA increases number of contracted Proteas
Five Proteas players have been awarded national contracts for the first time.
Bjorn Fortuin, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton have been awarded contracts by Cricket South Africa.
Heinrich Klaasen earned a contract upgrade this season and has been retained for next season, while Wayne Parnell makes his return to the contracted squad.
The total number of national contracts, for the 2023/24 season, starting on May 1, has increased from 16 to 20.
“The number of contracted players has increased from 16 to 20 this season to ensure that we have a wider pool of white-ball specialists and test players,” says director of cricket Enoch Nkwe.
“We look forward to seeing them compete at the highest level in what is an important next 12 months for the limited-overs and test sides, with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup taking place later this year as well as the start of the new World Test Championship cycle.”
