Currie Cup highlights: Cheetahs edge Bulls, Province storm shabby Sharks

Despite a comfortable win over the Sharks the Stormers missed the Currie Cup playoffs thanks to bonus points scored by the Bulls in their match against the Cheetahs.

Hacjivah Dayimani scored twice as Western Province ended their Currie Cup campaign on a high with a bonus-point victory over the Sharks in Cape Town yesterday.

Despite the comfortable 44-5 victory, the Vodacom Bulls managed to score enough bonus points to land them in fourth place on the log although they lost to the Cheetahs in Pretoria.

The Cheetahs fought back from a 19-point deficit and then stood strong in defence for a 31-27 victory that moved the Free Staters to the top of the table.

The result at Cape Town Stadium also meant that the Sharks missed out on a first-place finish and will host the Pumas in the semi-finals. The Cheetahs will take on the Bulls in the other semi-final in Bloemfontein.
