CUT assists Free State farmers

With many farmers being affected by veld fires in Central South Africa this year, the Central University of Technology (CUT) has donated feed to Free State farmers.

According to a statement issued by the CUT, Dealesvillle farmers who were devastated by veld fires received donations of sorghum, worth some R13 000 from the institution’s Technology Farm, which is part of the Department of Agriculture.

The CUT Farm’s Operational Manager Jan Jacobsz said the donation comes after a good rainy season of 2020/2021.

Jacobsz added that the coordinator from Dealesville, Martin Nel, visited the CUT farm on 1 September and loaded 33 sorghum bales.

According to him, 33 sorghum bales were distributed amongst the farmers who were affected by the devastating veld fires.

He said that they hoped that their small donation would provide some relief to the farmers and farm workers in need and make a difference in their lives.
