Department of Basic Education receives R1 million donation from China
Minister of basic education Angie Motshekga received a generous donation from China.
In a live ceremony, Mr. Li Nan Charge de Affaires of the Chinese Embassy to South Africa donated R1 million worth of anti-pandemic supplies such as masks, thermometers, and sanitisers to the Department of Basic Education.
The Chinese Embassy to South Africa posted on Twitter that since the outbreak of Covid-19 hit the two departments from these countries have been supporting each other through thick and thin and on May 20 successfully held a video conference exchanging anti-pandemic experience in assisting each other.

The South African Department of Education said ”We are grateful to partners such as the Chinese Embassy to South Africa for the continued support they provide to the sector”
It mentioned that the donation will go a long way to reach South Africa’s most vulnerable communities.
