Distribution truck hijacked on N2 in KZN, recovered within minutes

A distribution truck and its contents were recovered by security response units after the truck was hijacked along the N2.

A loaded truck which was hijacked early in the morning on Thursday by armed gunmen on the N2 south bound was recovered within minutes by security companies.

PT Alarms members received a call from a member of the company’s WhatsApp group, requesting assistance.

Jordan Owen Pillay, ambassador for PT Alarms South said, “A fully-loaded white Nissan UD80 distribution truck was hijacked earlier yesterday morning by gunmen travelling in a Toyota Etios sedan on the N2 south bound.

“Within minutes, the truck was recovered with its load of detergents just meters away from the incident. The panic button was pressed and the truck’s system shut off on the freeway before the Umlazi turn-off. The driver and the crewmen were taken and dropped off in the Umlazi Philani area by the suspects.”

The response units involved included PT Alarms, Dragon Protection Services, and the Metro Police and Umlazi SAPS K9 units.
