Dog recovering after bestiality incident in Mossel Bay

A Mossel Bay man remains in custody as police investigate a bestiality case involving a dog that is now recovering in SPCA care.

A 22-year-old man from Mossel Bay will remain in custody after he allegedly raped a dog.

Mossel Bay Advertiser reports that police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies said Da Gamaskop police are investigating a case of bestiality following an incident at Extension 8 in Mossel Bay on June 16.

Spies said the suspect appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court for the first time on June 18 and remains in custody.

It is believed that the dog’s owner, whose pet is named Caeser, opened the case at the police station.

SPCA assists investigation

Meanwhile, the Garden Route SPCA Mossel Bay branch posted a video on its Facebook page regarding the incident.

In the video, field officer Luciano Bayi said the dog’s owner and other witnesses saw what happened.

Caeser was taken to a veterinarian for a full examination. A rape kit was obtained from the police to collect forensic samples.

The SPCA said the dog was in pain and had to be sedated so that the examination could be completed.

Caeser is recovering at the SPCA and will be returned to his owners once he has recovered.

The police investigation is ongoing.
