Domestic worker ambushed as robbers break into her employer’s home

The robbers stole expensive whisky bottles, two plasma screen TVs and toiletries.

A 60-year-old-woman was ambushed and locked inside a bathroom when thugs broke into her employer’s home in Geduld, Springs, on Thursday.

Police reports indicate that she was alone in the house at the time of the incident.

Springs SAPS communications officer Sergeant Themba Tshabalala explains she noted four men in the house.

“She tried to scream for help but no one heard her,” Tshabalala adds and says she was then locked inside the bathroom.

“The robbers helped themselves to expensive whisky bottles that were displayed, as well as two plasma TVs and toiletries with a total value of R15 800,” Tshabalala says.

“It was later discovered that they broke the pedestrian gate and the front door to gain entry. The victim was unharmed and the robbers were seen driving off in a silver Volkswagen Polo,” Tshabalala concludes.
