Dros rape accused pleads guilty

The kidnapping charge against Nicolas Ninow was withdrawn.

Dros rape accused Nicolas Ninow pleaded guilty to raping a seven-year-old girl at a Dros restaurant in Silverton last year, Rekord East reports.

The now 22-year-old also pleaded guilty to possession and use of drugs as well as defeating and obstructing the ends of justice in the Pretoria High Court on Monday.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault while the kidnapping charge against him was withdrawn.

In his plea explanation read by his attorney Herman Alberts, Ninow admitted to being in possession of and using a drug commonly referred to as CAT and going to the female bathroom.

He further admitted to undressing the 7-year-old victim, forcing his genitals into her mouth and penetrating her vagina with his finger then later attempting to flush her underwear.

Ninow was arrested on September 2018. He was found fit to stand trial after a 30-day psychiatric evaluation at the Weskoppies psychiatric hospital.

His was referred to the hospital after the court heard he suffered from bipolar disorder and had abused drugs since the age of 14.

The court is still in session.

*Though the law prohibits identifying someone accused of a sexual offence before this individual has pleaded to the charge, Caxton previously made an editorial decision to name Ninow following the circumstances around his previous appearance on 2 October 2018.
