Drug lab worth millions busted in Pretoria (multimedia)
Three men and a woman were arrested this morning when Tshwane metro police discovered a drug laboratory and drugs valued between R1 million and R3 million in Onderstepoort, Pretoria.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said police acted on a tip-off about drugs being manufactured in the Onderstepoort smallholding,Rekord North reported.
The premises of the Onderstepoort smallholding is seen in the video with police cars parked outside.
“Upon our arrival, we found laboratory equipment, crystal meth, a compressor, two steamers, a bottle marked ‘benzene’, several containers and chemicals and rubber gloves,” said Mahamba.
He added that police also found various types of drugs which had been manufactured on the premises; but could not determine the distribution destination.
“The suspects are currently unwilling to cooperate but they are held at the Pretoria North police station and are expected to appear in court soon,” said Mahamba.
It was alleged that one of the suspects had been a Nigerian national.
Investigations are ongoing.
In June, three men were arrested after police discovered a drug lab in Kloof, Durban.
The men were found with a number of 40kg bags containing pure heroin powder, industrial manufacturing machines, scales, and containers.
