Durban man arrested for allegedly raping daughter, 7

A 29-year-old man is due in the Pine Town Magistrates’ Court for the alleged rape of his seven-year-old daughter in KwaNqetho, Hillcrest in Durban.

Hillcrest police communications officer, Constable Ndumiso Manqele, said it is alleged the father was left in the house with his daughter as the mother was attending a parents’ meeting at a school in the area on Monday, Highway Mail reported.

“After he raped the girl, he warned her not to tell anyone about what he had done.

“The mother did not suspect anything when she returned. When they were sleeping, the girl was feeling uneasy and restless and woke up in the middle of the night,” added Manqele.

Manqele said the mother thought the girl had flu, but she started crying and there was a bad smell in the house. The mother checked her daughter and realised that the girl had been raped.

A case of rape was reported at the Hillcrest police station and the man was arrested.

The Hillcrest Station commander, Colonel Bafana Ndlovu, commended the Hillcrest Task Team for their quick response in this case.

In a separate incident, a 64-year-old man from Betania, near Izotsha, in KwaZulu-Natal, appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter.

“According to a statement by the girl, her father raped her almost every day [until November, last year],” police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said.

The matter came to light in December last year when the girl told an aunt about her ordeal.
