Durban man denied bail for girlfriend’s alleged murder

The man accused of killing his girlfriend in Cowies Hill, Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, has been denied bail at the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court.

Pinetown police communications officer Constable Phindile Radebe said the deceased, Elaine Lottering, 56, was shot dead in front of her daughter-in-law at her home allegedly by her boyfriend following an argument last Monday, Highway Mail reported.

“The man made his second appearance in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he was denied bail. He was remanded to Westville prison and his case was moved to the Durban High Court and he will appear on July 07,” added Radebe.

In a separate incident, a 24-year old man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend in Mzinolovu, Richmond, in KwaZulu-Natal, in March.

The couple allegedly had an argument that led to the suspect fatally stabbing his girlfriend Lungile Shezi, 25, at about 9.55pm, said police.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot. Police added the deceased sustained multiple stab wounds to the body.

Richmond police received a tip-off about the whereabouts of the suspect and proceeded to Mzinolovu, where he was arrested.
