East Rand family murders: Case against accused postponed until March
A man from Gauteng, accused of killing both his parents, his stepdaughter and domestic worker, as well as shooting and injuring his wife, appeared in court today.
The case against Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer, accused of killing several of his family members and a domestic worker, was again postponed when he appeared in the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning.
During his last appearance on February 2, the case against him was postponed to today when Bouwer was expected to make his formal bail application.
Today, however, his defense stated that their case was not ready and requested a postponement of the matter.
The magistrate granted the request and the matter was postponed to March 5.
Additionally, an unknown man was banned from all future court appearances of Bouwer after he tried to make physical contact with the accused.
Bouwer was remanded in custody. He stands accused of killing his parents Bettie (73) and Robert (78) Bouwer on January 22 at their house in Bredell, Kempton Park.

He is also accused of killing his stepdaughter Natasha Bouwer (22) and domestic worker Elizabeth Mahlangu (56) at a house in Fairleads, Benoni, on the same day.
Bouwer will additionally face one charge of attempted murder for allegedly shooting of his wife, Adelle (43).
On the day of the shootings, SAPS provincial spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said Bouwer’s parents arrived at their home in Bredell at about 11:30 and found their son on the property.
“It is alleged he fatally shot his parents. The suspect then arrived at a home in Fairleads just after midday, where he carried out the other shootings before attempting to kill himself,” said Masondo at the time.
Bouwer allegedly turned the gun on himself at the Fairleads home but survived and was also hospitalised.
