East Rand: Glen Marikana move resumes after rubber bullets were fired
It seems residents were divided, with some wanting to leave, while others wanting to stay. Stones and bottles were also being thrown from inside the settlement.
The move at Glen Marikana Informal Settlement is back on track after rubber bullets had been fired to disperse the crowd, Kempton Express reports.
It is reported that when a truck returned to move more shacks, an unruly group of residents started throwing stones at it. The metro police retaliated by firing rubber bullets, after which the group dispersed.
Dann Road had also been closed.

Backup law enforcement has arrived and the move continues under heavy metro police guard. A nyala has also arrived and entered the settlement.
