Elections 2024: 12 party leaders should work on one plan to build SA – Mmusi Maimane
Bosa will not work with a party whose members are there to loot and who have been linked to state capture.
Leader of Build One South Africa (Bosa) Mmusi Maimane says it is time for the 12 party leaders who will be in Parliament to have an urgent round table discussion on how they should ‘think’ on behalf of the country’s 60 million people and create a working and stable South Africa.
Maimane was one of the first party leaders at the National Operations Result Centre this morning, where he addressed the media. He reiterated that a tangible plan for water, safety, electricity, and economic growth should be on the table by June 16, when Parliament plans to convene again.
“I am committed to the process,” he said, adding that while their results might be less than they hoped for, ‘we are confident that BOSA is in the Parliament’.
He said four coalition scenarios are currently on the table: A conglomeration of parties and the ANC, an ANC and Inkatha Freedom Party coalition in KZN, the ANC and the DA, and the ANC and uMkhontho weSizwe (MK).
Yesterday, MK party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela said his party would work with the ANC, but not the ‘President Cyril Ramaphosa ANC’.
Maimane said Bosa will align themselves only with people who are not corrupt and will do everything in their power to avoid the recapture of the state again, while under coalition rule.
Maimane was questioned on the DA’s claim that they had gained more black voters since he left. He laughingly replied that the DA’s marginal growth was a return of Freedom Front Plus votes. “If you were the official opposition where the governing party lost 14 points at the polls, and you can’t even gain one percent of that, it is disingenuous… to make such claims.”
