Eskom to escalate load-shedding from this afternoon
Stage 4 returns later today while stage 5 is expected from tomorrow afternoon.
Eskom says rolling blackouts will be heightened to stage 4 from 16:00.
This stage of load-shedding is set to remain in effect until 16:00 tomorrow when it will be escalated to stage 5 for evening peak until 05:00 on Tuesday.
The power utility says the varied stages of power cuts will be repeated from Tuesday ‘until further notice’. Thus, stage 4 will be implemented daily between 05:00 and 16:00, while stage 5 will come into effect between 16:00 and 05:00.
Eskom adds that 17 008MW of generating capacity is currently unavailable due to breakdowns, with a further 4 600MW offline due to planned maintenance.
