Fire causes alarm at Mossel Bay mall

The fire started shortly after 13:00. After their arrival, emergency services extinguished the fire and secured the area.

MOSSEL BAY  – Emergency services including Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management and paramedics responded to reports of a fire at the Langeberg Mall.

A cloud of thick, black smoke visible at the mall behind one of the stores, alarmed members of the public, who widely shared photographs and video clips of the incident on social media.

The source of the fire seems to have been a passenger vehicle belonging to the Langeberg Bus Service. A total of three vehicles belonging to the bus service were destroyed in the fire and a fourth sustained fire damage.

The fire started shortly after 13:00. After their arrival, emergency services extinguished the fire and secured the area. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

No injuries or other loss have been reported. The Langeberg Mall has re-opened for trade following the situation being brought under control.
