Firefighters battle Middelburg blaze
According to the journalist at the scene, the fire originated from the complex next to Ultra Liquors, on the corner of SADC- and John Magagula Street. The rumours stating that Ultra Liquors is on fire, are inaccurate.
The fire started at about 12:00 today, October 22. A person was reportedly cooking inside one of the stores when the explosion happened.
While the firefighters were trying to stop the raging flames people were looting from businesses near the burning building.

A person was trapped inside a car that was parked near Ultra Liquor. The owner of the car told Middelburg Observer that he was inside the liquor store when the fire started.
When he came out of the store his car was on fire and passengers were trapped inside his car.
Firefighters are still battling the fire and additional firefighters from Emalahleni are on the scene assisting. The Steve Tshwete firefighters were understaffed due to striking workers. Columbus Stainless and the Emalahleni Fire Department also came to the recuse of local fire fighters.
Two cars burnt to the ground.
