Five-car collision claims a life in Pretoria West

The multiple vehicle accident happened at around 04:00 this morning. At first three cars were involved whereafter another two cars were involved in a secondary crash.

One person was declared dead on Sunday morning in an accident involving five motor vehicles near the Daspoort Tunnel in Pretoria West.

Best Care Emergency Services paramedic, Carla Botha, says they attended a multiple motor vehicle accident at around 04:00.

 

“A first accident, involving three cars, was followed by a secondary accident in which two other cars were involved,” she explains.

Botha says three people were injured. One refused medical care. Another had minor scratches to the face and arm and the third sustained serious injuries.

Best Care says it treated and transported one critically injured patient to a nearby hospital.

“Various other patients were treated and transported by other emergency services.

“We wish a speedy recovery for all those involved.”

Botha said thoughts and prayers went out to the family of the deceased.

The cause of the accident is still unclear.
