Five more people killed in head-on collision in Limpopo

Police say the process of identifying the deceased is still underway.

Police in Nebo outside Groblersdal are investigating a case of culpable homicide after five people were killed when a truck collided head-on with a sedan in Mochadi village, near St. Ritas Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, Polokwane Review reports.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, one passenger from the sedan survived with serious injuries and five other occupants, including the driver, died instantly.

“Three adults and two toddlers were killed,” he confirmed.

Ngoepe added that the eight passengers who were in the truck at the time of the accident, including the driver, sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

“The process of identifying the deceased is still underway.

The cause of this accident is not clear at this stage but ongoing police investigations will tell,” he concluded.

This fatal accident comes barely after two weeks when buses travelling from Zambia and Zimbabwe to Gauteng crashed in Limpopo leaving 21 people dead and several injured.
