Five police officers arrested in Vereeniging during raid

The police officers were allegedly involved in dealing drugs.

Five police officers were arrested during a raid in Vereeniging. It is believed that the arrest is in connection with dealing in drugs.

The raid was led by MEC Faith Mazibuko together with MMC  for Public Safety Ndade Mokoena along with law enforcement agencies and various stakeholders.

Mazibuko says the arrest was made at the Vereeniging Taxi Rank following a commotion.

“We had already been to the taxi rank when we heard a commotion. On further inspection, we heard taxi drivers accusing some members of the SAPS with dealing in drugs. We proceeded to search their cars and indeed found drugs.”

Mazibuko urged other municipalities to also conduct raids in order to rid their towns of crime.
