Former Mpumalanga cop rapes teen, murders girlfriend

He murdered his girlfriend in the same house where he raped a kidnapped teenager.

Tsepo Sekgoto (28), a former policeman, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend and the kidnapping and rape of a teenager. The conviction was secured by a detective stationed at, Sakhile SAPS in Delmas, the same police station Sekgoto was working at.

Sekgoto, popularly known as #JESU, kidnapped and repeatedly raped the teenager (she was 17 at the time) in his rental house in 2020.

The victim managed to escape and report the matter to the police.

While Sekgoto was out on bail on this charge, he murdered his girlfriend (30) in the same house.

Sekgoto was sentenced in the Delmas High Court on Friday.

The High Court sentenced Sekgoto to life imprisonment for the rape, five years for kidnapping, and 20 years for murder. The sentences will run concurrently.

Detective Sergeant Nomfenge secured the conviction.
