Formula 1: 2022 US Grand Prix – what to expect

As F1 heads back to the states, here is what to expect from the 2022 US Grand Prix, as well as important times to keep in mind.

The Circuit of the Americas will host recently crowned double-champion Max Verstappen after taking a comfortable victory in Suzuka but the rest of the field still has it all to play for in the final four races.

The pairing of Red Bull and Max Verstappen in 2022 has been a force to be reckoned with. The experienced Dutchman fending external threats of his title defence off with relative ease, particularly in the second half of the season has yielded a second drivers’ title.

Despite this, the last time the grid took to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. It was Verstappen who battled wheel-to-wheel with Lewis Hamilton and managed to clinch victory in the sunny American state.

This weekend, Red Bull also stands a probable chance of claiming their first constructors’ title since 2013 if the duo of Verstappen and Perez can achieve favourable results. The Dutchman stated: “Yeah, I mean we are of course going to try to win it here. I think it’s of course very important to us to win that title, but on the other hand it needs to go severely wrong for the last few races not to win that one – so I’m not too stressed about it.”

Ahead of the 2022 US Grand Prix, title hopeful for the season Charles Leclerc implored the Scuderia to execute grand prix better in the future after some unfortunate events throughout the season. Asked what Ferrari need to improve in the USA and beyond, Leclerc said: “It’s Sunday execution as a whole, it’s loads of things. It’s tyre management, as we’ve seen at the last races it is a weak point, communication, strategy, reliability.”

Important times to look out for:

Practice 1 – October 21: 20:00–21:00.

Practice 2 – October 21: 23:00–00:00.

Practice 3 – October 22: 20:00–21:00.
