Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 6 258

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 6 258 with 2 575 recoveries on Monday.

Department of Health spokesperson Kwara Kekana said out of 16 454 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person positive for Covid-19) 11 229 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.

She said 511 people were currently hospitalised in the public and private facility.

The department confirmed the number of deaths remained at 47 deaths and no new deaths were recorded.

• Johannesburg: 3 025 cases and 1 501 recoveries
• Ekurhuleni: 1 243 cases and 605 recoveries
• Tshwane: 811 cases and 368 recoveries
• Sedibeng: 137 cases and 37 recoveries
• West Rand: 570 cases and 64 recoveries
