Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 6 546

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 6 546 with 2 825 recoveries on Wednesday.

Department of Health spokesperson Kwara Kekana said out of 16 820 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person positive for Covid-19) 11 687 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.

She said 63 people were currently hospitalised in the public and private facility.

The department confirmed the number of deaths remained at 57 and no new deaths were recorded.

– Johannesburg: 3 166 cases and 1 513 recoveries

– Ekurhuleni: 1 288 cases and 656 recoveries

– Tshwane: 865  cases and 375 recoveries

– Sedibeng: 139 cases and 44 recoveries

– West Rand: 584 cases and 237 recoveries
