Gauteng man arrested after allegedly shooting and killing siblings

A 51-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were murdered in Evaton, allegedly by a sibling who fled after the killings.

The police have apprehended a suspect who went on the run after he allegedly shot and killed his two siblings in two separate incidents in Evaton, north of Sebokeng, in Gauteng.

It is alleged that the man arrived at a family home in Graceland on yesterday morning, where he allegedly shot a 51-year-old woman, fatally wounding her.

According to a source close to the family, the man then went to a second location in Evaton, where he allegedly shot a second victim – a 35-year-old man.

“The second victim was taken to Levai Mbatha Clinic but later passed away. We were also informed that he also went to look for another sibling at her home but luckily, he did not find her. At the moment, we don’t want to speculate as we don’t know what the reason behind his actions is,” the source explains.

Sedibeng SAPS spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that a manhunt was activated following the incident. A 46-year-old suspect has since been arrested.”

Funda says a double murder case docket is open for investigation.
