Gauteng man charged with incest and statutory rape

The mother of the suspect and victim told the Rising Sun that she wasn’t aware of this behaviour in her household as she does sleep-in jobs.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in the Thembelihle Informal Settlement, Lenasia, after the rape of his 17-year-old sister, allegedly by him, in a shocking case involving incest and statutory rape.

According to Johannesburg’s district communications officer Constable Vusi Thokwan, the suspect had unlawful and intentional sexual intercourse with his sister, who, according to the mother, is the third born among six children.

The mother of the suspect and victim told the Rising Sun that she wasn’t aware of this behaviour in her household as she does sleep-in jobs.

“My tenant told me that she had noticed it from a while back but was afraid of saying anything,” claimed the mother.

However, the mother expressed how the arrest of her son has taken a toll on her in terms of finances, as she and her son (the suspect) were the primary breadwinners.

On the day of the case opening, the victim was taken to the Lenasia South Clinic for medical examination, and an investigation is underway.
