Gauteng triple murder: Man on the run with child

A security guard allegedly shot three people dead and wounded others following a domestic dispute in Kanana Extension 4.

Police in Rabie Ridge have launched a search for a man following a triple murder and three attempted murder incidents in Kanana Extension 4, at about 06:00 today.

According to the Kempton Express, the suspect is said to have fled the scene with an eight-year-old child.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela said a 38-year-old man, who is employed as a security guard and in possession of a licensed firearm, allegedly went to his girlfriend’s home in Kanana Extension 4.

“It is alleged that the couple had an argument, during which the suspect shot and killed his 37-year-old girlfriend. As he was leaving the house, he also shot and killed the girlfriend’s uncle and a neighbour,” said Sekgobela.

The girlfriend’s aunt was also shot and sustained injuries to her lower body. She was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The man then allegedly fled the scene with the girlfriend’s eight-year-old child.

“While on the run, the suspect encountered a Rabie Ridge police vehicle and opened fire on the officers. One female police officer sustained minor upper body injuries and was taken to hospital,” Sekgobela added.

The man remains at large, and police are appealing to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward.
