Gauteng tuck shop ‘robber’ beaten to death in mob justice attack
Two men entered a tuck shop and reportedly robbed a customer before they fled the scene. However, residents managed to catch one of the men.

Irate residents of Soshanguve Block BB outside Pretoria, reportedly beat a man to death over the weekend.
This is according to Rietgat police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, reportedly robbed a customer at a tuck shop at gunpoint.
“According to our preliminary investigation, on October 1 two men reportedly walked into the tuck shop, robbed a customer of his money and ran away,” said Maluleka.
As the suspects were escaping the scene of the crime, the victim screamed and the community caught one of the robbers and killed him.
“His accomplice is still on the run,” Maluleka added.
Police appealed to the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
He urged residents to inform the police if they apprehend someone who allegedly committed a crime or was seen to be breaking the law.
“Mob violence often leaves people with not only blood on their hands, but also criminal records,” said Maluleka.
“As a law-abiding citizen, think twice before you take part in attacking alleged criminals because that could land you in jail. It is not worth it.”
No arrests have been made.
Anyone who witnesses any act of mob violence or criminal activity in their neighbourhood should contact their nearest police station or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
