Germiston man holds wife, children hostage: 3 cops shot
Officers who responded to the scene in Klopperpark, as well as a family friend, were reportedly shot at by a 38-year-old man.
A man (38) was arrested after he allegedly shot and injured three police officers, after they responded to a hostage situation in Germiston yesterday morning.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo says officers received a complaint at about 07:00 about a woman and children who were held hostage by her husband in Klopperpark.
The SAPS says that when officers arrived at the house, the suspect fired shots at them. It is also alleged that he shot a family friend, who was inside the house.

“The SAPS hostage negotiator and task team were summoned to the scene. The suspect released all the other victims and surrendered himself to the police.
“He was charged on four counts of attempted murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm,” explains Masondo. A court date is yet to be confirmed.
The injured police officers and the family friend were taken to the nearest medical care centre in serious but stable conditions.
