Grandson arrested for murder of woman (81) in Sharpeville

Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after two people were stabbed in Sharpeville earlier this week.

The police in Sharpeville have launched a murder case docket after an 81-year-old woman was stabbed and killed by her grandson on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi reports that police were  summoned to the scene and on arrival found the lifeless body of the elderly woman lying in a pool of blood.

A 65-year-old elderly man was also wounded on the neck.

“The elderly woman was certified dead at the scene by paramedics. The wounded male was rushed to hospital for medical attention.”

Moloi states that the motive behind the murder and attempted murder is unknown.

“The suspect who is a grandson to the deceased has been arrested and will appear before the magistrate court soon.

“Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder,” Moloi concludes.
