‘Hitmen’s target’: Woman shot and killed in Emalahleni

Police say because no items were stolen, a 44-year-old woman's death is a result of hitmen, which is becoming 'a norm' in the area.

A 44-year-old woman was shot and killed at the Matthews Maphosa Intersection in Lynnville, Emalahleni.

According to a police report, the woman was driving an Isuzu double cab bakkie when she was fatally shot yesterday. It is alleged she was assassinated.

Vosman Police Station commander Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu says because nothing was stolen from the deceased, her death was premeditated and undoubtedly the use of hitmen.

“We condemn the merciless deadly attacks by hitmen as it has become a norm lately. People are intolerant against each other to a point where precious lives are lost instead of settling disputes amicably,” Ndlovu adds.

He says the woman was identified through the help of her husband.

“Anyone willing to volunteer tangible information that can assist the police to trace and apprehend the killers is requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Muntu Mbatha on 082 600 8537,” Ndlovu concludes.
