Homemade gun lands Brakpan man in cuffs

A man was arrested earlier this week for the possession of a dangerous weapon.

A 28-year-old man found in possession of a homemade pipe gun was arrested in Brakpan on Monday by members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS).

The man was nabbed at around 15:00 along Kitzinger Avenue.

According to BFS spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, one live round of 9mm ammunition was found in the barrel of the weapon.

“This comes after a similar arrest for a pipe gun in Goods Road two weeks ago and an arrest on August 8 in Victoria Street for shotgun ammunition,” he said.

The man, who faces a charge of possession of a dangerous weapon, will appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court.
