Horror accident on N2 in Durban kills three of same family

Two babies were among eight people who were injured in the crash and taken to hospital.

Three people have been killed and eight others injured in a horrific accident on the N2 Northbound before Spaghetti Junction last night.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services together with Life Response responded to the scene and arrived to find total carnage.

A SUV believed to be carrying an entire family somehow lost control and collided into the rear of a truck.

According to spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, one male and two females from the SUV were found to be severely entrapped in the wreckage with fatal injuries.

“Unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene. The Ethekweni Fire Department used the jaws of life and other hydraulic tools to free them from the wreckage,” says Jamieson.

Jamieson says that eight others including two babies had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical and were stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital.

At this stage the events leading up to the accident are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
