Info sought after 3 men shot dead in Mkhuhlu Trust near Hazyview

Three men were gunned down in the latest Mkhuhlu Trust shooting, an area already scarred by more than 25 killings in two years.

Another shooting incident left three men dead in the notorious Mkhuhlu Trust near Hazyview yesterday at around 11:00.

According to Mpumalanga News, the victims were driving in a dark grey Mercedes-Benz near the Matikwane Hospital when they were suddenly shot at by three men in a white Mercedes-Benz.

The attackers opened fire with high-calibre rifles, including an AK-47 automatic assault rifle.

The driver of the attacked vehicle and one passenger died on the scene, while another sustained critical injuries.

The injured man was rushed to Matikwane Hospital, a few hundred metres away, but died shortly after.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli confirmed that all three occupants of the vehicle had died, and a case of murder has been opened for each.

He said the motive for the attack is unknown at this stage.

Mkhuhlu Trust has earned the nickname ‘the land of blood’ after more than 25 people were shot and killed there in the past two years, with few of the cases leading to arrests.

Mdhluli said the police currently have no suspects in this latest shooting and asked members of the community with information that might assist the investigation to contact their nearest police station, call the Crime Stop number 08600 1011, or send information via the My SAPS app.
